Click!

Back in London I was so scared to weigh myself  at home on the official scale on my official weigh day (Friday).  I did weigh in a couple of times when I was away.  But you know bathroom scales - if you lean a little to the left or a bit to the right; the scales fluctuate on hard floor never mind carpet!

I lost 4llbs.  Am I pleased, sure, but how did I manage to lose?  The first week I remained focused and on the button.  The second week, lost the plot, completely.  I can't just buy one bar of chocolate and enjoy it, oh no, I have to have a choice, drawer full, up to my knees in . . .  Of course once you've dipped into the slippery slope - you drown.  Amazing the outward journey, was controlled, prepared, thought about, planned and actually enjoyed.  The inward journey was the exact opposite.  Mind set: by process of elimination: didn't get to sample a Cornish Pasty.  The only shop open on the way back was a small private shop next door to Tesco's.  At that time of the day they were sold out, though displaying half price cakes.  Say no more, had to have a selection as per.

Been home one week now and relieved to announce
"Right Back On It!"

This work thing, having to plan a packed lunch, sure gets you back into it.  I knew that the moment I got back, if I told myself, I'll start again on Monday, Tuesday whatever, it wouldn't happen.  So psyched myself up to the very next day.  Saved the leftover stuff from the journey for my son and got back on track.

Something triggers your brain, like a light switch clicking on, no one can tell you, it's got to come from within and now I'm hungry to be slim.

Blown It

Week One

The first week of my holiday was in strict diet mode.  From the build up and intensity of the last 6 months, the adrenalin was still running high and it stayed with me for a good 7 days.  I took Weetabix for breakfast so I didn't have the bother of weighing cereal.  Eating out places were carefully vetted for 'grilled' options.  I managed to say no to Cornish ice cream cornets with clotted cream topping.  Shared a cream tea, which was an idea suggested to me before I left London, though I didn't know that a friend was going to leave half a scone and I had to have that!  Maybe that was the beginning of week two?

Week Two

The second week of the holiday, went slowly down hill.  That dam left over scone may have started the decline.  Though on reflection it only takes a couple of slips, the wrong word, a little upset or in my case, my mobile phone crashed.  Big mistake to go shopping on the verge of a crisis.  Binge eating doesn't fix a crashed phone, nor does it fix any of  life's crises.

At the beginning of week 2, I continued diarising my food tracker. This is my blank tracker:    ready to fill out for the week. The reason it starts on a Friday, is because that's my weigh day and commences my Day 1 of the week. There's not much point pretending I didn't eat stuff and most importantly, it leaves an official poignant mark, seeing it written down.  In the past, I may take a week to recover.  When I was Weight Watching, (or rather when I lapsed during weight watching!) Weight Watchers UK I used to eat myself to chocolate and cake heaven/death, before returning for the next weeks weigh in and then attempt to start afresh.

Summary

If I can learn one thing from this trip . . .

Have and enjoy the binge.  It's been a long time since I eaten chocolate and biscuits and stuff.  Binging is eating out of control.  If I bought a packet of, for example, biscuits, I'd eat the whole packet. In a social situation, where you might find a plate of biscuits, it's much more manageable to eat one and be in control.

Eating out tonight at: Pan Asia.

Somebody Stop Me!

OMG - I over did.  Please let me remember this dam awful feeling in the top of my stomach.  Like having 3 Christmas dinners in one session.  Why do I do it?  I feel rotten, to the point of throwing up. It was one of those self service restaurants.  Chinese, Indian and Asian food.  Starters, Mains, Veggies, Desserts and everything in between.  You serve yourself from either the cooked dishes or choose a raw option and the chefs cook it while you wait.  So my eyes are bigger than my belly.  It's not enough to have one dish of each course - oh no - the pig I am, has to have at least 3 dishes of each course.  I'm not writing all that xxxx on my tracker!

I am never, ever, ever going to do that again.

There's a BQ lunch planned for tomorrow .  .  .

Heading back to London tomorrow evening.

Be back soon

Dieting On Holiday?

It's so hard on ya hols to keep on it.  I'm staying with lovely friends in Plymouth in their beautiful home overlooking a 2.5 acre garden, observing rabbits and deer passing by.

Two blank food trackers were packed, along with:
  • handbag sweeteners
  • kitchen sweeteners
  • breakfast cereal
  • sprinkle sweet
  • long life skimmed milk
  • chewing gum (for the car journey)
  • Ryvita
  • Green Tea

The hardest thing is creating a balance between, "I'm on holiday - blow it" and "All that hard work since January gone to rack and ruin."

I'm half way through the holiday. My birthday meal was at an Indian Restaurant: Nibana Indian Cuisine in Crownhill Plymouth. Modern, super clean, nice back ground music and attentive staff.  I had my usual Chicken Tandoori with boiled rice and a side salad. Yes I know, boiled rice, but  I really enjoyed it. Amazing how the same dish can vary so much in each restaurant.  If you're in the area it's worth considering.

Today I went to: Sam's in Cornwall in Fowey, a really good fish restaurant. I try not to have a starter and a dessert.  Decided on char-grilled sardines with their speciality salad of (the usual) mixed leaves, cherry tomatoes, roasted seeds, their home grown mung beans, cottage cheese and hard boiled egg.  It came with a 8" piece of French stick bread and a huge load of butter.  Ate only half the bread and the tiniest scrape of butter. Again, check it out.

When the weight loss gets to a crucial stage, like one more pound and you've lost 3 stone, every mouthful counts!

The plan has been, when we go out for one meal, the other meal has to be light.  It's working so far - we'll see how it goes.  I never get complacent, because in every thin person, (I'm by no means thin!) there's a fat person waiting to get out!

Tomorrow we are going to visit: Trago Mills and  Endsleigh Garden & Leisure Centre.

I'll report back tomorrow  .   .   .

FIRST ONE GONE!

Lost first stone (again).

Oh heavens above, please let me be focused this time around.

Because I don't go to any slimming group, I psyche my self up on a weekly, sometimes daily basis. I used to come out of my WW meeting, fuelled up and raring to go.  So now, doing my own thing,  I watch all the 'fat/thin/diet' style tv programmes.

When I'm out and about, I love watching fatties filling up with all the wrong foods. Yes, I know there is no such thing as wrong food, but you know what I mean!

I've started going to ballroom dancing lessons.  I used to go in my teenage years and I still love it.  It's only once a week, but it's getting me out the house, away from the tv and up off my big backside!

I made myself a rule:  If it's a dry day - go for a walk.  I wouldn't dream of going if it is wet or even damp, but hey, we're in the spring season in the UK!

When I've re-started in previous years, I always kept my diet a deathly secret.  This time around, I've told just about everyone. When you have at least 5 stone to lose, it really doesn't show to those around you, until you've lost at least 2 stone.  You are aware of it yourself of course, because of your clothes and well being etc, but the work mate, the weekly colleague you meet up with, won't notice.  Each year I try again, it's with a different plan, different mind set, different set of ground rules etc.

Post Tip:  Try a little cinnamon in your cereal - it supposed to melt the fat away!

I'll report back soon
Good luck all
 :)

January 2014

I'm officially back making home-made veggie based soups with lentils and barley.

Actually enjoying not having my stomach feeling it's going to burst with the pain of filling it up to the brim.

Just read:  Cutting down on vegetables such as broccoli and cabbage can reduce bloating, gas and belching.  So what the heck can you fill up on!  Ok, all veggies except broccoli and cabbage!

What a life . . .

Snack a Jacks

What ever you do, don't buy Salt & Vinegar flavour.  They are so so so salty, you're going to be drinking forever.  Disgusting.

HAPPY MARCH

Weighed My Self Today

2 March 2013

Lost since February: 6 3/4 lbs

Confession

I was going to manage myself at home and see how it goes.  Then I saw an ad for WW to join (re-join in my case) and get a free Gregg Wallace cookery book.

I felt I couldn't resist a free WW cookery book and just had to have it. I've since found out you can download it and wanted to share it with you, it takes seconds to load.  Click here for free GW cookbook

BTW - I do love Patsy Kensit, check this vid out here!

I know I was going to weigh every 2 weeks, now I've got no choice and have to get weighed every week.  So I'll see how this goes too. I can't cope with the disappointing results, so I better keep them positive!

Patient Co.Uk

Low-fat Diet Sheet

I take Statins to reduce cholesterol levels and I'm aware that when you cut out all high fat foods it brings your cholesterol levels down.

A website has been brought to my attention and I'd like to share it with you.  It's common sense stuff really, but anything that helps - right?!  It starts off by saying:

"A diet that is generally low in fat and healthy can help you to lose weight, or maintain your weight. It can also help to you to lower your cholesterol level."

If you're interested, click on this link and tell me what you think!

First Weigh In

Oh The Stress!

"It should have been a Diet Coke!"

Cut To The Chase . . .

Lost: 3 1/4 lbs

If this was a 1st official weigh-in I'd be very disappointed, however, I started my diet on 1st December 2012.  I'm guessing I may have lost maybe 4 or 5 lbs in December.

I can feel from my clothes - that something is definitely happening!

I've been in such a state about getting weighed and wondering what the scales were going to say, I've changed my mind about 'not going to weigh myself every week'  as mentioned here.

So, the plan to date is, weigh-in the beginning of each month and the middle of each month, we'll see how it goes.

I've been having this love affair with half-fat crème fraîche, with anything really. I was brought up on desserts and feel that a meal isn't complete without one.  My favourite at the moment is baked apple or low fat yoghurt and of course crème fraîche.

What's your favourite dessert, that's not too fattening?

Jeepers Creepers It's Cold!

Don't ya just love this!
It's so cold in Essex, the warning is we're going to have thick, thick snow. I hate it, so worried I'm going to fall over and no one will be able to pick me up!

I've decided I'm not going to weigh myself every week.

I get so disappointed and depressed, when the scales don't tell me what I want to know.  Even if I stay the same I get very upset and think I may as well have eaten what ever I wanted.  So I'm going to weigh-in monthly.  I'm nervous (already) that I haven't lost anything. It's weird:
  • Your main shop is spent down the fruit and veg section
  • The fridge is full of fresh products
  • You've got hardly any cardboard boxes in the re-cycle bin (from pre-packed stuff!
  • You change your entire eating habits
  • You stop eating rubbish between meals
  • You start to hallucinate ya trousers feel a bit looser around the waist!
Anyway, onwards and upwards, where's that from?

Xmas Chocolates All Gone!

Better get down to some serious dieting now.

Flippin Ferrero Rocher - Done!

So I thought I better weigh myself so I can keep track (hopefully) of some progress.  Don't actually mind if it's slow, so long as it's consistent.  Do I have to share this online?!X

Anyway, back on it.

Day 1 Week 1

Walk - Shwalk!

I don't like exercise, never have even at school!  So the sun was shining this morning and the sky was a pretty blue, before I could change my mind, I got in the car (oh I know) drove to my local park and walked around the perimeter of the park.  Is there a law about not walking clockwise - everyone else and his dog, were walking anti-clockwise!

Have to say, felt really good.  Next time plan to do 2 laps.

Two Soups!

I'm getting into the habit of making big pots of soup, so it lasts a few days.  I've got into lentils and pearl barley and Sainsbury's do a nice soup mixture.

Deciding what meal to make has always been a chore!  Once you have made the decision, your half way there.
